I forgot to share a funny story about my race....

I decided to wear my hydration belt for the 15K. I was so happy I did. It was great to be able to drink when I wanted to drink, instead of when there was an aid station. I was able to cruise right through the aid stations and avoid bottle-neck. My bottles are way easier to drink from than a paper cup anyway. I can drink on the run and I get to drink stuff I like. I carried one bottle of water and one bottle of Ultima. The other two holsters were empty.

Well.....at around mile 7, I was getting really hot and sweaty. I decided that I didn't want to waste the bit of water I had left so I grabbed a cup to pour down my back. It felt good, until I looked in the cup to drink the remainder and saw that it was ORANGE. OMG... I just doused myself in GATORADE! The guy running next to me either saw me do it or heard me exclaim after my realization and handed me a full cup of water (in the same type of cup btw!!). I poured it down my back to attempt to rinse off the sticky mess that I had made.

I am sure I am not the first person to bathe in Gatorade on a hot day. It doesn't help when a race only uses one type of cup. I had to laugh when I did it..... and I knew I would tell the story here!

That's too funny... I hope you weren't wearing a white shirt, that would probably make a lovely stain! Of course, maybe all these ice bath remedies are wrong... maybe we should all be doing Gatorade baths!

Oh... didn't I mention that I was wearing a white top?? LOL. I think the Gatorade was watered down and the water after it must have helped, because there didn't seem to be any staining. The Accelerade we trained with for the marathon... THAT stained. I always had to soak my shirt in Oxyclean because I dribbled on myself. :-)

You're a dribbler too ? LOL.
That sounded like something I would do, glad the other guy grabbed some water for you.

BTW: My tag is up ;-)

Love that story, Lisa! Thanks for sharing.

totally something I would do! Isn't it funny when you're on a run, something happens and we instantly think: blog-worthy!

Lisa, I think there were a few people who almost did that at the Finger Lakes 50 last week too - the Hammer Heed drink is really very close looking to water!

Hi, as a fellow mom and runner, I just wanted to say how much I resonated with your blog post about training for a marathon. It can be tough balancing the responsibilities of being a mom and finding time to train for such a big race.

I recently discovered MyInstantIV and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for me. The convenience and ease of booking an IV appointment online is amazing. The staff were all professional and made me feel comfortable during my treatment.
