Feeling my 42 years...

Why wasn't my birthday on Sunday when I felt strong and fast? On Sunday, I felt like I was thirty or even twenty-five. Nope. Figures...when I run on my birthday, I feel slow, sluggish and OLD. Holy cow. My last post talked about how much faster I am than I was a year ago. Well... 41-year-old Lisa could have kicked my ASS today. I did 4.5 miles and only averaged under 10 minutes for one of them.

I had a crazy idea at one point to do my speedwork and tempo runs on Tuesdays because the kids are both in school. There is no way I could have done anything resembling "tempo" today. There is a reason that those kinds of workouts are scheduled toward the end of the week.

On a positive note, despite a pretty horrendous run where my legs felt like lead, I had an uneventful and relaxing birthday today. My husband knows that I love massages. Right now, there is no way we can justify a trip to a spa. So he set up our massage table and gave me a salon-quality massage. Maybe he should consider a career change since the Finance Director/CFO angle is not showing much promise right now. *wink*

Hey, now I feel super bad, I missed your birthday - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY and thank you so much for your email. I promise, I will catch up on everything on your blog about your training and other stuff. Just been getting used to running in the heat again, like you do every day!

Happy Belated Birthday! Glad that was at least relaxing.

And we all have bad runs occasionally. I'm sure you'll be back on your game next time you head out.

Maybe you were still recovering from the 16 miles? The track club does it's long runs on Saturdays. Sunday and Monday are considered recovery or slow runs. I think you're right about postponing it until later in the week.

Happy Birthday! You definitely deserve a B-day massage :-)

Glad you had a nice bday... bummer about the crummy run. Remember what I always say... best thing about a crummy run is the next run is that much better!

Happy Birthday! (A bit late.) Wow, you have a massage table? I'm envious. Although not much good without a masseuse, you're lucky to have one of those too! :)

Happy belated birthday!! We all have runs like that, but think about it this way . . . they are actually a positive thing because without them, we wouldn't be able to recognize how incredible the good runs are! :)

P.S. I am super envious of your hubby's massage skills! I think my boyfriend is afraid he might break me or something--he need to give it a little more oomph! Glad you got such a relaxing present!
