Ten miles: check!

I woke up feeling a little better this morning. My throat hurt a little, but nothing too bad. Once I woke up, had something to eat and some caffeine, it didn't hurt anymore. I was glad to run a little later than I had been. I met Laura down at Mission Bay at 8 a.m. Our schedule called for running at a 10-minute-mile. We planned on just running easy and not worrying about pace.

There were a few times when Laura pulled ahead of me a bit. I thought about telling her that I would stay at the slower pace, but my pride wouldn't let me. I had left my Garmin at home, but I did a pretty good job at guessing our pace. I knew we were faster than 9:30, but I didn't want to slow her down, so I kept going. When I put it in that 'higher gear', running a 9:30 mile is a piece of cake, but during a slow, easy run it isn't quite as easy. I didn't feel altogether relaxed. Afterwards, she told me that I should have spoken up. Maybe I should have. But I don't know if slowing down would have changed much.

We ran ten miles at a 9:20 pace. Phew! I am ready for a nap!

I always feel like a nap after a Sunday long run, whether it is slow or fast... in fact, I wouldn't mind lying down for a bit right now! :)

Good job! I love running at mission bay. Was that your first long run for Rock N Roll? Hope you got that nap. I took one yesterday afternoon and it was fantastic :)

That's a fast 10 miles!!!
One of things I like about running with someone is that it can make you push yourself harder, I think it's a good thing that you didn't tell her anything and did it faster than planned.

I believe that naps after a long Sunday run are required :-))

Wow. a 9:20 pace....we're going to have to start calling you speedy-speedster.

I agree with aka Alice about your nickname! You've got a lot of time before the big day, just remember to let your body take it easy right now. (I am sounding like the mom now, aren't I?) :-)

Wow! That's a great pace. I need to do what you are doing!

I find myself running with friends at paces faster than my plan prescribes. And you hate to say anything--don't want to sound like a whiner or a wimp!
