While I r...Lisa, I am so glad you wrote this post. While I read it and sympathized with you, I agree that writing it for yourself is even more cathartic! You are amazing and like you said, still practically a marathon novice and have had some amazing performances. I have no doubt you'll get your BQ one day, but I also firmly believe that all of these experiences (good and bad) serve a huge purpose in helping us in our running and in our lives.

Hugs to you, you inspire me!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7918472490658203767.post-62014864271109949612010-10-25T11:55:59.836-07:002010-10-25T11:55:59.836-07:00I'm sorry things didn't turn out the way y...I'm sorry things didn't turn out the way you wanted, and saying that you should be happy because you ran a marathon isn't much consolation (at least I'm guessing it wasn't after the race). But this is a great learning experience for you. This will give you lots to consider going forward and will give you the chance to figure out what went right and wrong and how to best handle another marathon based on that.

And as I said before, I don't need a time for me to have respect and admiration for you.L.B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03932409909043501781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7918472490658203767.post-38867721588439976632010-10-25T09:28:39.717-07:002010-10-25T09:28:39.717-07:00When I was reading this I was reminded of my first...When I was reading this I was reminded of my first marathon. That was really a struggle for me. I'm sorry you didn't have your dream race, but it will come with time, and this will make it that much better. :)

Sorry about the bag check... There are times when we won't ever know exactly why we had a lousy run...it just sucks when it happens on a race day. Maybe it's the early hour? Maybe it was the concrete (you know that beat me up in the 1/2)...maybe it just wasn't in the stars...

The taste-bud think is interesting. Maybe dehydration? Humidity does weird things to me, and it was humid that morning.

I know you have a BQ in you.Aka Alicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09691390225208616675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7918472490658203767.post-75177064256926509272010-10-24T23:14:59.343-07:002010-10-24T23:14:59.343-07:00That sounded like a tough race. I had the same thing happen - the water tasted disgusting and I had to spit it out.Charhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13819714901550763235noreply@blogger.com
